Gunfire Erupts at Howe Park Sends 4 Shot in the Arden-Arcade Area of Sacramento

Law enforcement in Sacramento are probing a shooting incident that took place on April 18 2026 at Howe Park in Sacramento at the moment authorities were dispersing a large unsanctioned party of hundreds of attendees.

How It Started

Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies were first dispatched to the park around 6:30 PM on April 18 after receiving reports of subjects reportedly carrying hidden weapons. Soon after, another report was received describing a possible physical fight happening at the location.

An overhead unit flew over the park but found nothing to substantiate the fight report. Regardless, it became clear that several hundred individuals had gathered without authorization without any permit or approval.

The Dispersal and Shooting

Law enforcement personnel moved to clear the area by positioning themselves around the crowd and broadcasting over loudspeakers directing those gathered to leave immediately. Around 15 minutes were provided for attendees to disperse.

At the height of the dispersal effort that an estimated 20 to 25 shots were discharged. The sudden gunfire sent the crowd running in all directions. Responding personnel immediately began identifying shooting victims.

Those Who Were Hit

Altogether, four shooting victims were discovered with shooting injuries. The physical evidence showed that a second shooter had been firing southward from the Cottage Way area in the direction of the Home Depot store.
